As we grow up, our parents are the ones who help guide us along the way. There’s nothing quite like the bond between a child and a parent. Just as we all need the softness of a mother’s touch, fathers provide a sense of strength and safety. From playing catch in the yard to teaching you how to change a tire, a father helps prepare you for the real world. Father’s Day is a day to return the favor. Take the day to celebrate the paternal figure in your life and all they have done to help you become who you are today.
Have you planned out what you are going to do for Father’s Day in Charlottesville? Check out these places if you need ideas on how to celebrate the day.
Spend the Day at the Ballpark
For the father that loves a good baseball game, come see the Tom Sox, Charlottesville’s collegiate summer baseball team, play against the Purcellville Cannons on June 16 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cville Weekly Ballpark located at Charlottesville High School. Head on out to the ballpark and enjoy a light-hearted game of baseball. The Tom Sox are having a record-winning season, recently beating the Staunton Braves by seven points in an 11-3 win. With a six-game win streak, it’s a great time to go support the team as they continue to smash their opponents.
Tickets are only $2 per person, with a max of $10 per family. For an inexpensive way to spend time with dad on Father’s Day, take him out to the ballpark to watch the Tom Sox!
Father’s Day at Blue Mountain Brewery
If your dad loves a good beer and great food, then Blue Mountain Brewery is a great place to spend Father’s Day. In honor of the day, Blue Mountain will be having brunch specials from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In addition to food specials, there will be live music from East High Cellar from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. With ample outdoor seating, come enjoy the last few days of spring drinking local craft beer, listening to music, and spending quality time with dad at Blue Mountain Brewery.
Fishing at Chris Greene Lake
As one of the largest lakes in Charlottesville with 62 acres of water, Chris Greene Lake is a hotspot for fishing. Open from 7:00 a.m. until dark year-round, Chris Greene has a large supply of largemouth bass, channel catfish, and sunfish. With a wheel-chair accessible fishing pier and plenty of places to fish off the shore, you can spend all day by the lake with a pole in hand. Electric motor boats, canoes, and kayaks are also permitted on the lake. If your dad loves fishing and all things outdoorsy, then celebrate Father’s Day in Charlottesville at Chris Greene Lake!
